Hermits Lacrosse names 2015 captains

Richland, NJ - The Hermits Lacrosse Program has announced that seniors Ernie Alvino (Mullica Hill, NJ), Nick DeCaprio (Egg Harbor, NJ), Joe Eisele (Egg Harbor, NJ) and Chase Young (Egg Harbor, NJ) will serve as the Hermits captains for the 2015 campaign.

Alvino is a 2 year starter for the Hermits who helped guide his defense to a stingy 4.95 GAA in 23 games last year.  He  has appeared in 40 games over the last two seasons and has only surrendered double digits to an opponent twice over that span.  Ernie is a member of the St. Augustine Prep NHS and continue his academic and athletic career at the United States Air Force Academy.

Decaprio Returns as 4 year varsity LSM for the Hermits.  After overcoming an injury his freshman season, Nick has developed as a catalyst for the team matching up with top midfielders in the country.  As a major contributor on the wings of faceoffs and a force to be reckoned with in transition, his energy and assets as a player will serve him well in his future at the University of Michigan.

Eisele is returning to lead the attack as 2 year starter.  His strength and ability to put the ball in the back of the net from tough areas has led him to be the team’s leading scorer in back to back years.  Joe strives to build on his totals of 33g (2013) and 36g (2014) against some of the nation’s top defensemen and goalies.  Eisele will continue his career at the University of Delaware.

Young enters the 2015 season as a 3 year starter who has been a consistent performer over the course of his career.  Utilizing his size and strength has allowed him to develop an attention getting shot.  Young will also continue his time playing lacrosse for the University of Delaware.

St. Augustine Prep will open its 2015 season at home against national power Malvern Preparatory School at 4:00PM March 25.

Nick DeCaprio Named 2015 Wick Award Recipient

Senior LSM Nick DeCaprio was recently selected as the Wick Award winner for the 2015 Hermits Lacrosse campaign.  Robert "Wick" Wickham was a St. Augustine lacrosse player who was involved in a fatal car accident in January of 2005.

The "Wick" award is given to a Hermit senior who best represents what Wick stood for: camaraderie, excitement, loyalty and an element of fun.  Wick Award winners wear the #9 in his honor and all Hermits Lacrosse players wear the #9 on their helmets.
